Peterson’s Career Prep

What Is It?

This new, robust resource is being created in partnership between Gale and Peterson’s.   It provides users access to the same core career tools and will include new features for improved usability.   These features include:

    • Personalize career assessments focused on a user’s interests, values, personality, and workplace preferences
    • Comprehensive career information including videos, articles, best practices, and downloadable worksheets
    • Job searching capabilities via integration with Indeed.com that matches listing based on a user’s assessment results
    • Resume editing software powered by VisualCV Resume Creator that provides 5,000 resume templates and cover letter samples

How Do Patrons Access It?

Through a custom link on your web page, which can be found on the Gale Support Page at https://support.gale.com/finditva.  Search your library name to get your URL link.

  1. Login to the Gale Usage Dashboard using your institutional login and password (contact Barry Trott, barry.trott@lva.virginia.gov or Nan Carmack, nan.carmack@lva.virginia.gov if you do not have login credentials)
  2. Click the Reports tab
  3. Under Reports For FindItVirginia scroll down and choose Peterson’s Career Prep
  4. Under the Current Period heading set start and end dates
  5. Under the Metrics heading select Number of sessions, Create a resume, Find a career, Advice
  6. Under More Filters choose Library Types > Public
  7. Click Apply
  8. In the table of results, use the search tool to find your library (if you searched multiple months, there will be a line for each month)
  9. Add totals for Number of sessions, Create a resume, Find a career, Advice and report totals
