Books That Heal for Children and Young Adults (Library Journal)
This presentation will offer thoughtful discussion about the healing power of stories, and the messages they teach our youth for coping. It will provide examples of titles, for both children and young adults, which afford a variety of mental health benefits, supporting issues of trauma, self-esteem, identity, loss, anxiety, etc. Librarians have long championed literacy and the power of reading for our youth. Following this presentation, participants will have tangible ideas and language to use as they continue their advocacy for young readers.
