The Library of Virginia is committed to school readiness and access to quality learning related resources. To provide public libraries with tools to present quality programs that support learning and at the same time model best practices for 21st century learning, we would provide an iPad Air with protective Otter Case and loaded with carefully selected apps to be used for programs in the public library.
The Library of Virginia is placing in over 200 public libraries an iPad Air preloaded with select apps. The iPads may be used for enhancing public library services and programs. Those who receive the loaned iPad Airs will be required to submit a picture and caption of the iPad Air in use or submit a report on how the iPad Air has enhanced the public library service in their Library.
We will loan out iPad first to children’s and youth services library staff.
More than ever, families and children will be turning to libraries and youth services staff for help in navigating the digital landscape and in making sound, developmentally appropriate decisions on media use. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has put together Professional Tools for Librarians Serving Youth (scroll down to resources found under “Digital Media”) |
